Former UM linebacker who suffered head injury at 9 years old looks for spot on Dolphins during training camp Any rookie in any NFL training would tell you that their dream has always been to play on the next level. For one player who is hoping to make the cut with the Miami Dolphins, joining the team holds a deeper meaning. Linebacker Mitchell Agude is grateful to have a shot of playing in the NFL. For Agude, it’s more of miracle that he has this opportunity. “It’s a blessing to be alive in the first place, you know, because previously, as you know, I was in coma when I was nine,” Agude said. Due to a skateboarding accident, Agude suffered from a head injury, which left him in a coma for three days. When he woke up from his coma, he was left with no memory of what had happened. Thankfully, doctors found no signs of a brain injury. “Remember going to the park and then coming back from the hospital,” Agude said. “It was kind of like that, but obviously, my parents had a different vision, different viewpoint of it, and now I see the ramifications lik...

McCaughey: Democrats becoming the censorship party A Pew Research poll released July 20 found that 70% of Democrats think the government should restrict what appears on social media, a dramatic change from five years ago when a majority of Democrats supported a free marketplace of ideas. It’s no wonder, considering the drumbeat of warnings from leftist politicians and their liberal media allies about “disinformation” and “misinformation.”But be warned: Democracy cannot survive for long if one of the nation’s two major political parties wants to put blinders on the public, limiting their access to information and canceling political opponents.A House hearing on July 20 held by the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government showed that the Biden administration is already censoring social media on a massive scale.Hearing witness D. John Sauer, special assistant attorney general for Louisiana, described preliminary findings by a federal judge that Biden staff in the White House,...

Niger will face sanctions as democracy falls apart, adding to woes for more than 25 million people By SAM MEDNICK (Associated Press)NIAMEY, Niger (AP) — Economic sanctions could severely hurt one of the world’s poorest nations after a coup unseated one of the West’s last democratic partners against Islamic extremists in West Africa’s Sahel region. Niger’s neighbors are also threatening armed intervention against the junta run by the head of the presidential guard, although analysts say there is only a slim chance of the regional body successfully sending troops. Both the United States and France have sent forces and hundreds of millions of military and humanitarian aid in recent years to Niger, which was a French colony until 1960. The French and the US train Nigerien forces, and the French military carries out joint operations in the north.Since the coup that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, people have been toting Russian flags and praising that country in pro-junta demonstrations.U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Niger in March to stre...

Patriots have a secret offensive weapon on defensive side of the ball FOXBORO — The Patriots don’t currently roster a fullback, but when they lined up near the goal line at the end of practice, there was a lead blocker wearing No. 48 positioned in front of the running back.Defenders lit up after Monday’s fully padded practice when asked about linebacker Jahlani Tavai moonlighting as an offensive skill player at fullback.“It’s good seeing him on the offensive ball because we get to hit him,” defensive tackle Davon Godchaux said. “He’s a defensive guy but playing offense, so when I see him over there, I get a chance to hit him. I don’t think he’s got a fullback play yet, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to get one.“When I first saw him go there, the offensive coaches called him to go to fullback, I was like, ‘OK, OK, we’re going to sting your (expletive) now.’ It’s always good to see him over there getting some more reps at somewhere else too.”Related ArticlesNew England Patriots | Patriots still counting on young running backs as depth i...
