Orioles extend April fortunes into May with 11-7 win over Royals behind Ryan Mountcastle’s two homers

The Orioles’ first game after their historic April went much like their first 19 wins of the season.Baltimore trailed 3-0 early, and it appeared as if the momentum from the club’s scorching hot April — one of the best opening months in team history — wouldn’t carry over into the first game of May.But then Ryan Mountcastle opened the floodgates in the fourth inning with his first of two home runs, as the Orioles scored five runs in the frame en route to an 11-7 win over the host Kansas City Royals. After scoring five in the fourth, the Orioles sent two across the plate in the fifth and three more in the sixth, and Mountcastle partook in all three crooked innings. The first baseman hit a two-run home run in the fourth, another two-run shot in the fifth and an RBI double in the sixth. The multihomer game was the eighth of Mountcastle’s career and his second this season; the first was his nine-RBI night against the Oakland Athletics on April 11.Cedric M...Connor Wong erupts for two home runs, leads Red Sox past Blue Jays 7-6

This is the kind of game that would have gotten ugly in a hurry last year. After cruising through the first four innings, the Red Sox saw things unravel in the top of the fifth, giving up six runs with two outs to flip what had previously been a 3-0 lead into a 6-3 Blue Jays advantage. We saw how quickly games like that against Toronto could snowball, but it’s apparent this year’s Red Sox club is made of tougher stuff.Plus, Connor Wong picked a great time to have the game of his life. The second-year catcher exploded for the best offensive performance of his big league career, going 4 for 4 with two home runs and a double while falling a triple short of the cycle in Boston’s 7-6 win. All four of his hits were scorched, and the two solo home runs tied and then gave Boston the lead after Toronto’s potentially backbreaking rally.“Definitely an awesome feeling,” Wong said afterwards. “Just trying to go out there and help the team win and luckily I ...Three hurt after plane clips truck during landing, crashes at Langley, B.C., airport

LANGLEY, B.C. — A small plane has crashed at the regional airport in Langley, B.C., after hitting a pickup truck while landing, sending three people to hospital.Langley Township deputy fire chief Russ Jenkins says the crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when the plane came down too low over the road beside the airport. Jenkins says the plane went through a fence then crashed and caught fire, but the two occupants were able to escape before it was engulfed in flames. The driver of the truck was also injured in the collision, and a Langley RCMP news release says all three people were taken to hospital, the truck driver by ground ambulance and the others by air.Jenkins says the firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire, but not before the plane was destroyed.Police say the investigation is in its early stages, and no cause has yet been determined. This report by The Canadian Press was first published May 2, 2023.The Canadian PressDoes your wearable tech actually track your health?

At an impasse with the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners, the independent nonprofit board that manages the Ramsey County Fair has announced there will be no fair this year, and future years could see the event move to another location, perhaps even outside the county. The Ramsey County Agricultural Society recently posted the cancellation announcement on its website, noting that Ramsey County will be the only one of Minnesota’s 87 counties without its own fair.“After working on an agreement with Ramsey County for more than three years, we cannot operate a fair under the conditions and demands from Ramsey County Commissioners,” reads the announcement. “It is very clear that they do not want a county fair. We are considering our options for the future. Possibly a new name and location. Possibly merging with another county fair.”There was no fair in 2020 or 2021 because of the pandemic, and a planned comeback in 2022 was derailed by contract talks that h...Stephentown residents told to lookout for vehicle traveling in the area
